Natural Bridge has two places that are a must stop. Natural
Bridge Caverns is great for spelunking (caving), climbing and a little maze.
Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch is great for animal lovers, nice walks, petting animals and more.
1. Natural Bridge Caverns is located at 26495 Natural Bridge
Caverns Rd San Antonio, Texas 78266. You walk down 180 feet below the ground.
The cavern is usually around 70 degrees which makes it a nice cool walk.
They have several different tours:
- The Discovery Tour – Has a tour guide that explains some history of the cavern and shows you some pretty sites. This tour is about 75mintues long.
- Hidden Passage Tour – Takes you into a different part of the cavern that has some of the most rare and delicate formations. (They also turn out the lights on this tour to show you how dark it is inside). This tour is about 70 minutes long.
- The Combo Tour – This consists of both the Discovery Tour and Hidden Passages tour.
- Lantern Tour – This is the first tour of the day. You go done inside the cavern with only a lantern for light. (Makes you feel like the first person to go down inside the cave)
2. They also have a “Canopy Challenge”. Climb and test your
strength and balance on 47 obstacles that go up to 60 feet in the air. They
also have zip lines as well. You have about 30 minutes to do the course.
3. Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch is located at 26515 Natural
Bridge Caverns Rd San Antonio, Texas 78266. They have a good selection of
animals and many ways to interact with them.
They have three areas:
- The Drive-thru – This one is a lot of fun. You drive thru an area where the animals are and feed them from your vehicle. (Be careful the zebras can be aggressive). You can go at your own pace so you can see and pet the animals as long as you want.
- The Petting Barnyard – Mainly consists of baby animals (goats, llamas, hens and sometimes a baby emu). You can pet, chase and feed these animals.
- The Walk-A-Bout – You start off at the giraffes and can walk around to where the birds (Scarlet Macaw, Amazon Parrot, and the Gibbon) hang out. They also have a Lemur exhibit which is pretty cool.
4. Make sure you check some of the links at the bottom to help
plan your visit. Have fun!
