Texas Renaissance Festival

A festival all centered on the 14th-17th centuries in Europe.
If you’re looking for a flashback into the past or just a little vacation away from the current society this is a good stop. This one is located at:
21778 FM 1774
Todd Mission, Texas 77363

Let’s get right into the action!

1. They put on plays, jousting events that has the crowd divided into sides to cheer on their chosen knight, Robin Hood and Maid Marian fighting for “true love” from the sheriff of knotting ham, a free bird flying show, knife throwing with humor and more. After the actors are done entertaining, they remain in character and continue talking in old English jargon. It adds the perfect touch to this place.

 2. When you’re not watching any shows or waiting for one to begin, they have plenty of scenery to enjoy. They have a castle, life size chess matches, giant swings, different water fountains placed around the area, and food.

3. The food is at a fairly good price and well worth it. They have homemade beef jerky, kettle corn, funnel cakes, chicken, steak, fish, crawfish, pudding, and lots of deep friend desserts like Twinkies and bananas (my favorite) and many more.

4. They have plenty of things for the entire family, especially for the kids. From a petting zoo and pony, elephant and camel rides, to an amazing maze which is pretty cool to find your way through. You can always bring your kids on their “school days” (Generally in the beginning of November) to learn courtly dances, history of arms and armor and the ancient art of falconry.

6. If you’re a big renaissance buff, they have plenty of shops to purchase full body armor, swords, knives, candles, clothes, things for your house like rugs and blankets and even furniture, pottery and even lawn ornaments.

Keep an eye out or visit one of the links below to see when they’re having a themed weekend. They have some pretty creative workers that go through a lot to bring you a piece of the past. I hope your visit will be as memorable as mine!
